My Niece’s Big Fat Delhi Wedding: Sushmita Sen or Nitasha Kohli
Arora?
Is this a sequel to My Big Fat Greek
Wedding or a remake of Monsoon Wedding? It’s neither but rather a beautiful
amalgamation of both. My Niece’s Big Fat Delhi wedding has taken the Singapore
World Film Carnival with a storm this year, winning the much coveted Critics’
Choice Award. This is not the only award the documentary by debutante film
maker Haresh Sood has garnered, it has won several other awards across film
festivals and carnivals across the globe.
Not only has the
documentary caused a stir in the world of films and documentaries, the bride on
whom this documentary was made has caused a stir amongst critics and viewers.
Who is this bride? Who is Nitasha Kohli Arora?
style for brides to be, women and girls everywhere. Clad in a yellow saree on of the documentary’s poster, some critics have drawn comparisons between her and the legendary queen Sushmita Sen, coincidentally Haresh Sood has worked with both women.
Even before the documentary
Nithasa had been approached by various Bollywood agencies, but instead she
chose to focus on her career and settling down. However, Nitasha has once again
made heads turn in the industry with the success of My Niece’s Big Fat Delhi
Wedding making waves from England, Paris, Toronto, Spain and even Singapore.
I too like many of you wanted to
know more about this documentary especially Nitasha Kohli Arora, so in the
spirit of blogging I reached out to Haresh Sood the director and the uncle of
Nitasha Kholi to ask him a few questions. There was so much he had to share
about the documentary, but this is what he had to say about Nitasha’s popularity;
“We always knew we had a star in the family. But I must say,
Sushmita Sen did not receive this level of attention when I worked with her in
the past, and we all know Sushmita Sen is in a beautiful league of her own!”
A fair comparison I’d say, I mean after all what do Sushmita Sen
and Nitasha have in common? Haresh Sood, the director with an eye for detail.
“I have always idolised Sushmita Sen for her
beauty and grace, I never expected my uncle to make a documentary based on my
wedding and for me to have comparisons drawn to the living legend Sushmita Sen,
I am honoured and I am still trying to get used to all this media attention.”
Beauty with humility, wouldn’t you agree. I for one have
fallen in love with this beautiful young lady, and I can’t wait to watch My
Niece’s Big Fat Delhi Wedding. Don’t forget to watch the premier this Diwali. For
those of you not in the midlands where the film will be premiered you can watch
it exclusively for one night (4th November 2021) only on https://paus.tv
